As much as I love food, I don’t love to be in the kitchen. The number one deciding factor when it comes to what I cook and create is time. Unless it’s a holiday, I never make a meal that takes more than 30 minutes. I prefer to spend my free time exercising, reading, or relaxing. A kitchen overheated by a too-small oven isn’t that conducive to maintaining inner peace.
That being said, I’ve fallen in love with so many 30 minute meals and quick recipes! It’s amazing how much can be done in so little time.
Breakfast is my favorite of meal of the day. It’s also the meal that I have the least amount for, prefer not to cook when I’m getting ready for work, and more often than not end up throwing in my work bag.
I notice that I typically have a bit of a sweet tooth in the morning, so most of my breakfasts err on the sweet side with some fruit. I love to add in seeds or milk to make them more filling.
A few months ago, I shared a recipe for coconut flax milk. It’s still one of my favorites, and since then, I’ve been experimenting with other milk recipes. I made hemp milk for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it! It was creamy, but still smooth. The flavor was neutral enough to add into my smoothies, oats, and coffee without taking away from the other flavors.
Making hemp milk was quite simple; it only requires two ingredients!
1/4 cup hemp seeds
3.5 cups of water
Nut milk bag (not just for nuts!)
Directions: Put all ingredients in a blender and blend for 1-2 minutes. Pour into a nut milk bag to strain.
