As I reflect upon this year, I can’t stop thinking about how differently it went than expected. I traveled internationally alone, something I was afraid of doing for a long time. In addition, I ran my first half marathon. The craziest thing about it is that I couldn’t have told you on January 1, 2016, that I would’ve done either of those things.
I went to school in Philadelphia and spent 4 years in college watching my peers run the Broad Street Run. I would look at them and think “wow, 10 miles? I could never do that.” This year, I did that-and a few extra.
I wanted to go on vacation in October when no one else was available. I bought a plane ticket and had an amazing time.
Over the past few years, I’ve made it a point to steer away from making New Year’s resolutions. My life is ever-changing and any date on the calendar is just as good as next to make a change. Do something that scares you and don’t wait to do it.
A lot of mornings I wake up not feeling terribly motivated to start my day, run errands, work out, etc. But then, I think about all the people in my life who are living out their dreams. That’s my motivation to chase mine. It’s never too early to get started. Don’t wait for January 1st.
